Somatic Xtras by David Lanham
This is a set of all the Somatic icons I’ve made that aren’t system related or were replaced by the new system icons. I’ve included many icons for popular and requested applications as well as an assortment of new characters that you can use for those random applications that are left out.
I’ve had a lot of fun making this set and I’m really pleased that everyone has been so supportive and positive towards it, thanks!
This download includes an iCal icon and a blank iCal ICNS file. This file will keep the iCal dock icon from switching to the original version when you launch the application. Here is what you need to do:
- Go to the Somatic Folder
- Open the iCal Blank folder
- Select the iCal-Empty.icns file
- Go to the Edit menu and select Copy
- Go to your applications folder
- Control-Click on iCal
- Select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu.
- Open the Contents Folder
- Open the Resources Folder
- Find the file named iCal-Empty.icns
- Rename it iCal-Empty-Old.icns
- Go to the edit menu and select Paste item
Now when you launch iCal the month and day will be drawn in the proper place on top of the new iCal icon!
Although completely safe, this technique is considered “at your own risk” and the Iconfactory can take no responsibility for any problems that may arise. The most important part of this procedure is renaming the original iCal-Empty.icns file so that you can revert to it if you have problems or if you want to go back to the original iCal icon.
